Songs in a Fugue State

This is a list of songs, in no particular order, that are more remembered than heard (and seldom remembered). These are songs that didn’t quite make it to number one…. Maybe they didn’t even make it to number 40. They were good songs (or not), popular enough to be somewhere in your memory, but not popular enough to continue to be played, and therefor at risk of being forgotten!

For the record, I’m not suggesting that I like all of these songs, but they all fit into the “Oh yeah, I remember that!” category. These are not necessarily one-hit-wonders. For example, Wall of Voodoo’s song, Mexican Radio, or Come On Eileen, by Dexy’s Midnight Runners are songs that do not fit on this list, as they remain in somewhat regular play, either on TV, movies, or compilations. (The results are very specific, vague, and difficult to articulate. Still, I am open to suggestions.)  :-)

Better Than First Thought

Some songs age better than others. Some of these songs may be considered little more than one hit wonders. Some are thought to be one-hit-wonders when in fact the group had other hits. Many of these songs are unfairly lumped in to a category of past silliness. These songs, IMHO, deserve a reprise. (No particular order.)
